Working on maternity leave

I know I can’t work on maternity leave, but I’ve interviewed for a job and they’re looking at condensing 2 job roles into one job for me so it would be 22 hours, just over what my maternity pay is. I’d lose 2 months maternity pay but my son is breastfed and only nearing 6 months. I’m young so I’m thinking career progression would be more important than having an extra 2 months, but my son won’t take a bottle.
Lucky that my mum is lucky enough to only work one day a week which she does for her own sanity, and she’s offered to have my son and not charge me.
But I’m worried about going back so early, I think i interviewed well.
Has anyone gone back this early? I’d need to go back in 2 months anyway to pay my bills.

If it's a good opportunity I would take it.

It's a different scenario but I'm self employed and resumed some work from baby being 8 weeks old. It's quite nice doing something not baby related!

Hey OP, I went back after 10 weeks with DS1 for financial reasons. I was able to leave him with DH who worked from home.

As long as you have good, reliable childcare you trust, your DC will be fine. I found it hard for me being away from him but I went back to 40-50 hours per week which was a nightmare.

Do what is best for you though. It will be a long time before you have this much time with your DC again but you also need to be practical. Good luck x
