Any Excel experts...? (Job interview, eek!)

I have an interview next week for a finance officer role in a school and they use Oracle and Excel. As part of the interview there is a spreadsheet task. I am fairly familiar with Excel but does anyone have any experience of using it for financial purposes? Many thanks in advance.

Yes - what do you want to know?

Are there any particular commands that might be used just in a financial setting. I can Sum, create equations in cells using the = symbol. Anything else?

Vlookup, hlookup, rounddown, nested if statements?

Can you use conditional formatting and link worksheets?

if you can do index and match that will make you stand out

the formula works like:

= INDEX ( WHERE AM I LOOKING, WHAT ROW NUMBER(a) , WHAT COLUMN NUMBER (b) )

then in (a) we put a match to find the location of the item we are looking for

= MATCH ( value to look for , where you are looking , 0 ) (to get an exact match)

Thank you so much. Some of the above I know, the others I will revise over the next few days. Really appreciate you input!!

What do the ifs do ?

Xascha · 10/02/2018 09:37

the if works with a true or false

if ( 3 = 3 , yes , no )
if ( 3 = 4, yes , no)
