My maternity cover was given a permanent job

I wrote earlier about not wanting to return to work and trying to figure out the holiday plan so I don't need to repay extra maternity back. Today I found out that my cover got her contract extended to a permanent post. She remains with the same title as before. This is a council post, they did not advertise for that post just give it to her. In the past there was only one person doing that so once I return there is going to be 2 of us. Is this ok?

Is it a problem if you are only returning to work your notice / avoid repaying maternity pay? You have stated you don't want the job. It's a lot of time and effort to recruit someone good, if your cover fitted the role then it seems a win all round - you return to work your notice but won't be swamped with work, the cover has a permanent post, your colleagues don't end up covering in the gap between you leaving and your employer recruiting a permanent replacement and your employer saves time, effort and money on recruitment / induction.
