Hiya
Anyone got any ideas for a job to do??
Working in a office doing filing and things at the mo, just
temping, its so boring. Only been here for couple of weeks, first few days were ok, was working with another temp, but I got moved for messing around lol

Thinking of doing a course, nail technician or something but dont know yet.
Any ideas? I need something in the day because I've got a daughter.
Thanks

Well what are your interests? What are you good at? In what sort of environment do you prefer to be in? Working alone or as part of a team etc. What qualifications have you already got. Are you a good student (might be helpful when considering retraining options). What makes you say nail technician?

Or you could talk to your agency and tell them that you want to try as many different work places as possible.

Would ike somewhere where you can have a laugh, the place i'm at now is serious, got told off just for flicking elastic bands! If the team is decent, I'd like to be part of a team.
Didnt do that well at school and did a course at college but didnt finish it, so I know I'm not the best student, but I want to try keep my head down to do well and do something better.
I say nail technician because my mate does it in a salon and enjoys it.

Yeah you really cant do that kind of stuff in a place of work. Its not professional. You might get away with it if you had worked there longer, and were known for working hard. But for a temp to come in and do that is disruptive, and they will feed back to your agency and you might not get as much work in future. Have you asked if there are any other tasks you could try? Could you shadow your friend at the salon for a day or so to see how it is? Remember that one persons definition of a laugh might not be yours.

At the risk of sounding like my mum... you're there to work, not to have a laugh.

NWmum1234 · 26/01/2018 15:17

I asked about doing other things, the manager said she’d give me more things to do on the computer next week. Doing filing and loads of photocopying with the other temp this afternoon. It’s in a separate part of the office so away from manager lol

Have you done any of those online competency tests that tell you what your strengths are and suggest jobs?

Tequilamockinbird · 26/01/2018 15:31

You got moved for messing around, and told off for flicking elastic bands? Hmm

It's work, not school.

retirednow · 26/01/2018 15:46

How old are you and your daughter, is she at school yet. What sort of things do you like, would you go back to college to do beauty or something like that. Flicking elastic bands and having a laugh should not be top of your list, you are supposed to be working not mucking about.

cherryontopp · 27/01/2018 00:38

How old are you OP?

You sound very immature. Moved for messing around and told off for flicking elastic bands? Want somewhere you can have a laugh?
You sound like your 12 years old in a class room.

You may find your job boring, a lot of people do but its a job, it pays and you have to take it seriously for references.

Maybe a job in a fast food place is best for you. You can mess around, fling fries at eachother and have a laugh Hmm

NWmum1234 · 27/01/2018 16:11

I'm 27, my daughter is 6.

Yeah I'd try a course doing beauty.

Your priority should be looking for a job or course that pays enough to support you and your daughter. I thought you would be about 16, not 27, you are a grown woman with responsibilities, is this thread just a wind up.

NWmum1234 · 29/01/2018 11:02

I am looking for a job and maybe a course.
