Maternity Leave

Hello

Any help greatly appreciated. I have worked for the same employer for 4 years and have been given a promotion starting September 2018.

Does anyone know where I stand with maternity pay etc if I got pregnant and had to start maternity around September time? Which wage would it be based on - my current one or the new wage?

Thanks

Statutory maternity pay is calculated based on your average weekly earnings over a period of at least eight weeks up to and including the last payday before the end of the 15th week before your baby is due (the 15th week is known as your qualifying week).

In terms of any company maternity pay arrangements, check your employment contract / maternity policy.

Smp refers to your actual average earnings in the relevant period, around May/June if due in September so not taking the pay increase into account. Any extra paid as Occupational Maternity Pay may differ but there could be conditions on this to entice you to return.
