Benchmarking my salary - how do I do it?

My job role is changing and I am starting to have a bit more seniority. I've been told to bench mark my salary against others - how do I go about doing this?

Look at vacancies for similar roles in your industry in your area and see what they're paying

There aren't many, that's the problem - my role is a bit of a unique one.

You could try payscale.com (can't remember if there's a UK-version.) If your role is that niche, you might have to look at equivalent roles as well.
