May be a stupid question...
Going back to work after maternity leave and have to put a part time work request in writing.

Do this mean I have to actually type and print a letter up? So much more effort.

Or just an email?

I'd probably do both. If you were to hand in your notice it would be in actual writing, in an envelope.

I'd send an email with my part time hours request and then say 'I will follow this request up in writing'. And do that also.

Emails are good to cover your back if anything were to happen. Keep it in your sent items in case.
