Payment in arrears?

Not an issue really I just need some clarification.

I have had a job offer and they state that:

"You will be paid a basic salary of £xx,xxx per year paid monthly in arrears."

It then goes on to say that payday is the 10th of each month.

So when will I get paid? If I work the month of February, is payday on the 10th Feb or 10th March?

I should add that it said the same in my current contract, that I get paid in arrears and payday is on the 23rd. However when I started I got paid in the same month, so if I worked Feb there I got paid on the 23rd Feb for that month. However it sounds like arrears should be the month after.

You need to seek clarification from them, not us.

You will get paid on the 10th of the month, unless they've put the wrong pay date. When you get paid on 10 March it could either be in arrears for the month between 11 Feb and 10 March, or it could be in arrears for the calendar month of February, or it could be 10 days in arrears and 20 days in advance, ie payment for the month of March. I'd say the second option is the most likely but you need to ask them.

x-post - in your current job you get paid 23 days in arrears and 7(ish) days in advance.
