Hi,

I am thinking of setting up a luxury lifestyle brand and would appreciate any useful help and feedback / advice that anyone can offer.

So here is what I am thinking so far....

  • Online shop that sells unique, elegant, glamorous, stylish and well made & excellent quality items for your home.
  • The site will also offer an on-line interior design service that will not suggest that you replace everything (unless this is what is requested in the design brief). I will work with the client and items that they have and that they want to keep to create design schemes for the room in question.
  • The site will also offer tips and ideas for projects you can do in your home and useful tips for looking after things around the house, it will also offer entertaining ideas and advice.
  • Alongside this I am thinking of offering classes locally (bexleyheath, Bromley, Kent, Essex) and possibly in London depending on demand these will mainly be short courses i am thinking approx 3hours long, they will be reasonably priced. Courses I am thinking of initially are floral arranging like how to create the perfect table center piece amongst others, candle making, bath bomb / soap making, room staging, paint techniques, paper pom poms to name a few.

Would any of you use all these or any of the above? Would you be interested in a brand like this? Is there anything you think that I could add to this that you think would be useful to you or that you are struggling to find elsewhere? Any useful feedback would be appreciated. I am still in the early planning stages and your feedback will help me to decide if it's worth fine tuning the idea or not.

Thanks x

First of all, I'd want to know what your credentials were.

Anyone with money (which presumably you are after) would be able to buy far nicer candles than they could make. Same with soap.

Floral displays sound very old fashioned.

YouTube offers tutorials in virtually everything nowadays - I'm not sure you'd attract enough people to a class to make it worth the cost of hall hire.

I run a homewares business. If you do not have a bottomless pit of money to spend on advertising, your website will not take off.
Are you qualified in interior design? If not are you expecting a website to do the designing automatically? Interior design is very much an offline business. You need to do site visits and go through colours and layouts in person.
Essentially, you have three separate business there. You would struggle to do all three at once on your own.
