I know there is a £100 fine for paying late, but does anyone know if it is enforced if payment is one day late?

There is no £100 for paying late. You'll just pay interest. The £100 fine is for filing your tax return late.

Can you pay it by credit card & then pay that off on the 1st Feb?
Only thing is, if you do, you’ll have to do it before 13th January, as HMRC are ending payment by personal credit card on that date.

Can't pay by credit card after 13th Jan....

Provided your return is submitted on time, you'll incur a small amount of interest.

But you can pay it before 13th on the credit card and then pay off the credit card after the 1st - assuming you have already done the return and know what’s due.

Sorry rusty must have just skipped the latter half of your post!

Great thanks - my tax money is in premium bonds and I want to get one last month's chance of being a millionaire before I hand it over!
