Changing work hours

I work for the NHS and they did a reorganisation which could have resulted in a down banding. They slotted me in a new role on the same hours as that is what I requested due to childcare issues. Now a couple of months down the line they want me to change my hours which could implicate a cost of childcare of up to two hundred pounds a month. If I originally stayed in my previous role would have been in pay protection for 2 years and after that lose 80 pounds a months. Obviously the latter option is now the better one. I am not sure of my rights.

I’m afraid I don’t really understand this bit.

But if changing your hours would result in increased childcare costs you don’t want to incur, say no. You don’t say they are trying to force you to change - are they?
