Nursery reccommendations

Hi

I've recently placed my 6month year old son at a day nursery in Birmingham although I am generally happy with the service received.

Although I do get annoyed with minor things e.g. they seem to forget things on a daily basis one day it could be his hat another his bottle another his weaning spoon etc. Also we never know what goes on during the day there I set a particular routine for my little one and now after 4 weeks I have just found out they have not been following it although they had told me they were....

Obviously we place a huge amount of trust in these places especially as this does cost a fortune.

Can anyone advise if there is somewhere or someone I can talk to about recommendations on nurseries at the moment? I mean talking to other parents of nursery users would be a great advantage or a website they can give me this kind of information.

As it seems I'm going round in circles at the moment.

Well hopefullly the guys and gals on MN can give you some info, but IMHO it's a very personal thing and each individual nursery, whether a chain or not, is really dependant on the staff that work there and the policy that they follow.

My DS goes to a Leapfrog and I am very happy with the way they follow his routine and stick to the guidelines I set out eg. No Sweet stuff: Jam, biscuits, cake, juice etc. I also really like the staff (they fight over who's going to take DS when he's dropped off 'cos they all like cuddles).

If you are not happy with what's going on then you should talk to the nursery manager. It's not so much that they didn't follow your routine, nurseries can't always, but they told you they would and they haven't. I agree with you that this is not good enough and certainly doesn't create a feeling of trust on your part.
