Work gone bust

Just found out Work has gone bust and none of us are going to be paid.

Anybody got any advice/info. I’m gutted. Plus with the xmas break most places are going to be on shut down/skeleton staff so realistically won’t get any interview until mid Jan

What line of work are you in? I saw your other thread... At least you know you can survive on your DH's salary for a little while.

It’s a travel company but I’m in admin.
Going to look into costs of an afterschool Nanny as realistically not going to find a job that finishes at 3 but I only earn £8.50 an hour so not sure if it will be cost effective.

This happened to me a few years ago. And honestly it was the best thing that could have happened... in the long run

Fucking horrific at the time though. Not gonna lie.

You are in admin though, that's fab. I was something very niche and technical, of which there were no vacancies anywhere in the U.K. (very niche industry) i ended up doing admin as a temp, but was a bit rubbish. The good news for you is you can actually do it properly. Get yourself to the nearest big town or city and sign on with EVERY temping agency you can find. Do it online too, but also in person , if have met you, I find it helps them remember you when they need someone.

Once you have signed on, phone them all daily at least and ask if anything has come up. Be a nuisance.

I think you have an ok chance at this time of year, it gets busy for a lot of industries, and there is a lot of sickness and people wanting time off. Once you have something temp you are in a stronger position to fins permanent work.

Good luck and don't lose heart Thanks
