Hi. I was offered a job last week as an admin assistant at a local school. They advised i could start once part A of the dbs check was done. Could someone please advise how long part A of the dbs check takes? Thank you

Call them and ask - they'll give you an up to date wait time

I emailed the school today as the business manager was not available. DBS said they still had not received my application, apparently schools go through a 3rd party which takes slightly longer, not sure though.

Time for DBS varies. If you have lived in lots of different places (especially abroad) or if this is your first application then it can take a few weeks.

We do ours on line and it can take from 24 hours to 3 days depends how many places you’ve lived or if you’ve lived abroad. We get staff from Isle of Man and they take longest as it’s counted as abroad.

Thank you all. I’ve always lived in the UK, it’s my first job in a school, also my first dbs check

They don't take long. Couple of weeks max. Usually a lot less

Hopefully it will be here before the start of term

I had one that took 5 months but it was a full dbs check and someone with the same name as me is a perv. Can you not ring dbs or check online?
