My sister has just packed her job in as Account Manager in an advertising agency to embark on setting up Newcastles first speed dating company to organise events for singletons in the area.

I hope it works out for her!

If you were single would you give it a go?

I would, but I wouldn't expect any more than a good night out from it

I've done speeddating loads of times. Has a very high fail rate of , I found, 80-90%. I think it's something to do with the pressure in that everyone is thrown together - it's kind of artificial and forced. But, hey, it's only £25, and the great thing is because you only have the time that it takes to boil a soft egg thee's no drinks bill for either of you :-)

Disadvantages/advantages, depending how you look at it include men outnumbering women by 60/40, even sometimes 70/30, depending how many flake, though no-shows go right down if the fee is paid sometime before the evening itself.

Online dating is far better as there's no pressure and you can take your time with your own particular likes/dislikes in selecting members or not, and get to know them via messages, and their profiles which I find reveal a great deal about them.
