Job applications - awful timing!

Just accepted new job to start January. My contract ends in March and although the new job isn't my ultimate dream I could do it and like it, so all seemed good as there isn't a lot around at the moment. Only, just as the recruitment process concluded I've seen something advertised that would be my absolute dream - 3 vacancies, too! No guarantees I'd get one as no direct experience in that field but strong transferable experience and can demonstrate strengths against all the specs. It would take me in a different direction while being entirely related to my areas of interest/expertise. I know I should be glad to have something after all the anxiety of current one coming to an end, but really....knew I shouldn't have looked at job website!

That should read 'my current contract ends in March'.

If it's your dream, then why aren't you applying?

I am torn - doesn't it seem a bit off in the first week of a new job?!

If it's your dream, apply. So what if you have to quit in the first week of the new job or renege on the job offer? You don't owe the company anything. Obviously be polite and apologetic if you do have to let them down but don't sacrifice your own happiness for the sake of not pissing off an organisation that can easily hire someone else!

You are thinking of not applying for your dream job because of a three month contract. In any case, you have no dilemma until you've been for interview and got a job offer from the dream job - and the only thing you can guarantee is that you won't even get an interview if you don't apply. And if that happens, you'll be spending the rest of your life thinking, what if I had given it a shot?

The job I just accepted is permanent. But you're right, I'd kick myself for not having a go. Never seen anything quite so perfect come up locally!
