Can an introvert manage?

I have a second interview this week for a job I really fancy, Production Coordinator in a manufacturing company, but it is managing a team of 5 which I've never done before. I am quite an introvert -practically skilled, quite confident and outspoken, but find a lot of time with people quite tiring - and this aspect of the job is quite intimidating. Is it possible for a an introvert to manage a team?

Yes you don’t have to be an extrovert to manage a team and if you are managing a team of introverts then introversion is a bonus (which is not to say extroverts make bad managers either).
Listening is a more important skill than talking when managing people and you can be assertive without being loud.

P.s. you don’t need to spend all your time with the people you manage either no one wants someone looking over their shoulder all the time.

Thanks gamerwidow, that gives me confidence for my interview! Smile
