WHEN DO I TELL MY EMPLOYER I AM PREGNANT???

Hi

i am 8 weeks pregnant and have been back at work (after maternity leave) for 10 weeks! When do you think the best time to tell my employers? shall i tell them now and get it over and done with and so they have plenty of notice or shall i wait until the first trimester has passed? what does everyone think????

i told my boss as soon i found out i was pg (we both went outside of the room for a private chat) but my boss was jumping for joy and couldnt stop grinning for the rest of the day. ......then i told my employees when i was 3 months pg.

I always waiting until the first scan.

I waited till 12wk scan.

Personal choice really, you have to tell them by roughly 25 weeks but often it would be obvious by then anyway.

The only reason you SHOULD tell them is from a health and safety perspective. Depends on the type of job you do but if you are exposed to any hazards or risks at work then they need to be removed. A risk assessment should be carried out straight away once you have told them anyway, regardless of the job you do.

I was between 19 and 21 weeks with each of mine before telling work.

I waited until about 4- 5 months as I'm quite small and didn't think it was any of their business in case I miscarried, was treated differently etc.

I told my immediate bosses only a few days after finding out, as would have told them if anything had gone wrong and also I got on well with them and figured it would easier if they knew in case I had bad morning sickness / any other probs. I ended up going for an early scan because of bleeding and it was much easier that they knew what was going on. If I didn't get on with my boss I would wait longer though. Told HR dept after my 12-week scan.

I didn't say anything until after the 20 week scan, as I've had late miscarriages before and didn't want to take the risk of having to untell them, IYSWIM.

I told mine with ds at 12weeks and with dd they asked me at 8wks as i was constantly nipping away to be sick!!
