Leaving a London based job

Hi there

Not sure if this is the right place to post, so feel free to redirect if so...

I'm thinking of changing jobs. Currently, I work in London and have a good salary but I am completely unmotivated to do it and I need a change.

I used to live in London but moved about 50 min commute outside when our DC1 was born.

I'm just wondering If anyone has moved from their job based in London, to one outside of the capital? What were your reasons for moving? Was it a good decision or do you regret it?

I am slightly hesitant because I feel that the quality of the organisation, career development opportunities could be worse and also time not working in London will mean it is more difficult in the future if I wanted to go back.

Obviously the pay will be worse but that doesn't bother me so much. I'm more worried about taking a backward step in terms of my own development and the opportunities open to me.

I've only ever worked in London, so I'm afraid i'm ignorant of what it is like working outside the big smoke! Any experiences, advice would be appreciated!
