Entertaining clients after match at Twickenham

Any recommendations for somewhere to go for a bite to eat and a drink after the cup final with clients? Sunday evening in May. We would need to be able to be sure we could get in ie book but other than that are not too fussy.

My DH reckons this is not a query for Mumsnet, and has offered to put it on Pistonheads for me... Come on team, prove him wrong!

try putting your request on the west london meet-ups thread?

fridayschild · 15/04/2007 21:16

At this rate I am going to post on pistonheads myself - thanks mintchoc, will try another thread

The restaurants on London Road, just by Twickenham Station are all really good (three, owned by one person) and I know that the new one which does tapas is supposed to be really good. It's called el vino

I haven't been there myself but I have been to Ma Cuisine on the same parade - same owner - and it's great.

Heathcliffscathy · 15/04/2007 21:35

la brasserie mcclements

a cena

Heathcliffscathy · 15/04/2007 21:36

la brasserie is sister to el vino.

he is a great chef

all of these are on squaremeal.com who are quite reliable.

if it after rugby final, i would book now...it may already be too late as twickers will be rammed that night.

Mann's Beijing in Old Isleworth is good and not too far from the ground.

suejonez · 15/04/2007 22:06

depends how much you want to spend and how many of you there are. I'd recommend Richmond rather than Twickenham (buses go back to Richmond station if you have a tube ticket) or there's a lovely bistro in Kew called ummm Kew Bistro (or something like that). Nice Turkish on Kew road close to Richmond called Escale, Fat Boys Thai nr Richmond brideg was popular at the last West lonodn meet up, Bistot Brula in ST Margarets is just about a walk form Richmond and has a great reputation but may be too late to book. Loads of other restaurants in Richmond.

If you really want to push the boat out there a Michalin starred Restaurant in Kew - The Glasshouse which is fab.

suejonez · 15/04/2007 22:09

there you go kew bistro Kew is only one stop on tube from Richmond and bistro is falling distance form tube, there is a pub at the station if you want a drink at a pub first.

Or there's the KEw Gardens Inn

fridayschild · 16/04/2007 09:26

wouls happily offer more suggestions if you want to be more specific about what you need... just to prove your DH wrong (have done client entertaining myself after Twickenham so yah boo sucks to your DH!!)

suejonez · 16/04/2007 09:30

and interestingly the kew bistro is the sister restauratant to the one margoandjerry recommended in Twickenham Ma Cuisine

amidaiwish · 16/04/2007 10:04

Nosh in St.margarets is also very nice.
you could walk it too from twick if you are up for a stroll...

otherwise venture into Teddington
Thai Smiles
Scarpetta (pizzas/pastas but also good main courses too like salmon/chicken etc..)

how civilised do you want it?
Rawalpindi next to M&S on twickenham high st is posh indian - big leather chairs, nice atmosphere.

hana · 16/04/2007 10:06

I would def def book something asap however, and make sure you know what you're paying for - dh and his boss used one of the restaurants near the station (twick) and it was fairly pricey - but they didn't realize and weren't really informed that it included pre and post food/drinks.

suejonez · 16/04/2007 19:40

could you post DH's reposnse to the extrenely thoughful and helpful you have received

fridayschild · 17/04/2007 13:30

For some reason there is no emoticon which corresponds to DH's response....

OP posts:
suejonez · 17/04/2007 14:33

I think the envy emoticon should cover it

If you want somewhere in Twickenham try either the Albany in Twickenham at railway approach (it does food but check if it does on match days and worth booking - this is my favourite place locally to eat) or for a nice drink the Bear in Twickenham (its quite large and has a big sofa area but may be full after the match)

Alternatively try the Wine bar on Twickenham Green -its a little off the main twickenham drag adn does food so may be a better bet for less crowded food/wine. I am pretty sure its got a website if you google twickenham green

In Richmond if you're interested there are a few places but you do have to get there (but trains or the free buses from the stadium) - there is a french place on richmond hill (I'll dig out the name if you;re interested) that is a reasonably nice bistro and must be reasonable as always full of French people.

Dozens of pubs and indians if you want to go the more conventional route - book a table at sheesh mahal as that is the nicest in terms of decor and decent food (ie you wouldnt be ashamed to take clients if they were up for a beer or curry) or Green Spice on Twickenham Green (not quite so fancily done out as Sheesh mahal but yummy food)

poppy34 · 17/04/2007 20:39

for more upmarket there is also canyon in richmond
