Help me understand Maternity policy?

So I’m an academic in a new role (Senior Lecturer) in a new University.

The University Maternity Pay (full pay then half pay) has the following eligibility wording -

“All employees who have completed 52 weeks of service at the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth”

So help me get this.

Say the due date is 17th November 2018. That puts the expected week of childbirth starting at 11th November 2018. That puts the 15th week before EWC starting on 29th July ending at 4th August. This is also called qualifying week.

I complete 52 weeks of service DURING that week. So I complete 52 weeks on 31st July which falls during the qualifying week (15 weeks before ewc).

The language says “at” the 15th week before EWC. Would that make me eligible for the University Maternity Pay? Or would I have had to finish 52 weeks before that 15th week before EWC even begins?

I’ve asked our hr rep but while I wait any thoughts?
