Best date to leave and then start new role - salary payment

I will soon be handing in my notice at current job which pays on the 28th of each month. New job also pays on this date which is handy for my bills etc.

I’m being a bit dim but can’t work out the best leave date and start date to minimise the impact of being light in my pay packet on both sides.

I started current role on the 1st of the month. So if I tried to leave on or around the 28th and start new job the beginning of the month I’m thinking i’ll be more or less ok?

I’m putting money aside to tide me over but can’t work out the best scenario.

Thank you!

Presumably you get paid on 28th for the whole month? In which case work the whole month.

February? Just because it only had 28 days (unless next year of a leap year).

Thanks both. Yep I was thinking leave at the end of the month and start new job at the beginning.

Seems so clear now. Don’t think I can put off until feb though so will be a jan start.
