Am I right to be annoyed

Recently i found out one of my colleagues is incentivised on a group project at work. When I found out it felt like a slap in the face, especially since I lead meetings and offer training to other members of the team. I just feel like what is the point in doing that work if someone else is going to be rewarded fo it. I must add that I really like my colleague and I am happy that she is earning more, but on this basis I just don't think it's fair. What do I do? Should I bring it up with management

Is what she is doing of identical value to what you do? Why is she rewarded for Doug your work? Do you both lead the meetings at the same time? Do you both offer training? Perhaps she is being rewarded for other skills.

She may have been given promotion to do further (different) work (the group project) and presumably that's not your work. Are you her boss? Is she now earning more than you? Is her new work of more or less value than yours? If it's the same, she should earn the same. If you wanted the project, you could ask why you were not given the chance to go for it. Is the work you cite relevant to the project?

Why is she rewarded for doing your work?

I would say our work is of equal value. I am more of a strategist, while she carries out some of the work as she has a specialised skill. But that should be in her salary.

So far I am the only one leading the meetings. She has taken a bit of a back seat in them all. And again I am the one doing the training, yet she sits in on it.

I am not her boss and have no idea about her salary.

Was she given the incentive or did she ask for it? Why can’t you do the same? It’s your career to own, not her issue

It is possible that she is on a low salary and that she in incentivised whenever she has occasion to use the specialist skill.
