So, I work for a large global company and until December was in charge of a team of 5.
In January of this year we restructured, with me now reporting into Europe, at which point the UK TL role was "Put on hold". So I've gone back to a full time sales role, no management responsibilties and in the meantime have been looking for other jobs as I don't want to not be managing people. My VP has been saying for months that he would revisit the structure in H2, but never confirmed anything. embarassingly I've really had no official job title all year now.
Fast forward to last week, sat in a global call and the new org structure goes on display - all of my peers have been promoted to my old job in Europe, nobody in the UK carries that title. So in effect me and one other guy who used to be a TL have been demoted.
Having calmed down and not stormed out of the building I sent a very calm email to my VP saying that I was surprised to see that the UK was the only country without that role and could he confirm what my title is now and that he wont be hiring for that post in the UK. I'm fuming that effectively I've been demoted for no reason, there were no performance issues, the opposite in fact.
I've had no reply yet. If you were in my shoes, WWYD next? I'm hoping for a job offer at the end of this week but in a very specialised industry so it's a slow trawl for jobs. Just in case I'm stuck here for another 6 months is there anything else I should be doing?
