'Dear Sir/Madam', Is this still valid???

Yes! so after many years I'm looking for a new job. Only thing is, is the above still correct to write on cover letters? its sounds a bit dated.

I've used it. Job through council website and no named person. Ideally a named person is best but it's better than To whom it may concern!

Yes and much better than the archaic and sexist Dear Sirs used by a lot if law and finance firms.

O I did’t know that about Law firms. I’d find that very annoying! Wasn’t sure wether it’s now ‘Madam/Sir, Sir v Madam? Dear They’Grin
