Does this ever happen?

Has anyone ever receive acknowledgement of a job offer via email - or is it always ‘email of doom’ or happy phone call?

IME it’s always ‘the email’ if unsuccessful and a phone call if successful. Has anyone experienced any different? I always assume if they say we will email you the means they have decided you are not good enough in interview. Perhaps that’s paranoia talking..

If it were me recruiting I’d want to offer over the phone to the successful candidate, confirm their acceptance and then tell the unsuccessful candidates after.

It might be company policy to do it by email though. Dunno.

Always the phone for me but I've never worked in civil service or NHS etc. Private sector and especially with agencies is always a phone call. I've only once had a call to tell me I was unsuccessful.

This one was a charity - it has turned to be the 'email of doom'

Oh dear.

Onwards and upwards!!
