I need to get my cv sorted out so I can start applying for new jobs. However I've not had to do one for 5 years and then it was a role where I had a contact.

I don't know what is currently preferred or hated any ideas or places to direct me?

A lot depends on your industry eg a CV for an advertsing company would be different to one for a bank.
Have a google and there are lots of example templates.
Also, libraries often run sessions to help people write them so worth a call. Or if not, give your local job centre a call to ask if they know any places.
