Job offer: The waiting game is killing me!

I'd better phrase this all a bit carefully so it's not too outing... Hmm

A company has offered me a job. It's a very good job and I really, really, really want it. I'm quite excited about the work I could do there.

The offer was a not quite right. So I called the company back and had a conversation with the boss where I explained that I can't quite accept it as is, but with a few tweaks to the offer, I'm all theirs. The conversation went as well as such a conversation can go. Boss said, 'Leave it with me, we'll work something out.'

4 days later boss's PA asked me to send through a bit of extra info, which I did.

Then silence.

One week after that I emailed boss to check how things are. Boss said they're working through some HR issues and will get back to me within 2 weeks.

That was 2.5 weeks ago.

So do I email them again? I tried to call, but boss is not in the office. I have a mobile number, but seems a bit intrusive...

What would you do, oh wise ones?

I wouldn't contact them by mobile, unless they gave you permission to use it. Chasing a job offer that seems slow to materialise never ends well IME. If they've kept you hanging around waiting for 2.5 weeks to get "HR things" sorted it doesn't sound like they have a sense of urgency to fill the role, I'm afraid.

Hopefully you haven't told your current employer you're planning to leave.

Agree with Daisychain. Don't use the mobile.
I'd drop them an email to let them know you're still interested though.
But yes, keep looking.
