Ringing in sick on first shift! Help

It’s a really long story so i will try and keep it short and simple!
I have a 10 month old and after struggling with money I managed to get a job at an old employer who agreed on one shift a week (perfect!)
So tonight was my first shift - my partner suffers with anxiety and went back to the gp Friday who gave him some medication to try. This morning he took it and had a seriously bad reaction to the point he was hallucinating, shakes it was pretty scary!
He said he didn’t feel safe to look after the baby all night and I had no one else who could look after our baby so I didn’t know what else to do! My hands were tied. So I thought the professional option to go into work and explain which I did but no management were there.
I am glad I didn’t go in because our baby woke up screaming (teething!) and my partner didn’t even wake up or hear him he was completely out of it! Obviously I know I have gave a really bad impression and I feel so bad I just don’t know whether they are going to want me to even come back!
I just wanted some opinions on the matter my baby obviously comes first and my partner! I’m planning on popping in on Monday to have a chat and explain the situation to them face to face. Does anyone think this is the best thing to do? Confused
