Accountancy Apprenticeship

I'm currently working as a management accountant and am awaiting the result of my management level CIMA case study exam. My manager has asked me to find out if I can book courses through my current provider (I do distance learning with BPP) on the apprenticeship scheme. I'm over 40 - aren't I too old to be an apprentice, and I'm only four exams away from qualifying?

Maybe he didn't mean for you but a general enquiry as to whether your provider did apprenticeship courses too?

I imagine your boss is hoping it can be funded through the new apprenticeship levy. It's definitely worth investigating but I don't know if cima are doing that yet (inevitably they will) and I have a feeling it doesn't apply to people who have already started their studies.

TFSRM that's right they want to see if they can use the apprenticeship levy to fund my studies. I've checked with the National Apprenticeship Service and they can't as they only find up to level 4 and I'm already above that. You also have to be given off the job training for a minimum of 20% of your hours. I get 2.5 days per exam, which typically take 3-4 months as I'm distance learning.

Fund, not find!
