Home Carers and Enhanced Disclosure

Hi, I'm currently applying for jobs as a home carer and there seems to be a real demand out there for this type of job in my area (S. Gloucs).
Most offer to pay the Enhanced Disclosure for you it costs £36.
But i've had a call from a local home care agency offering immeadiate work BUT i have to pay for the disclosure.
Most companies always insist on paying it themselves.
Has anyone come accross this?
Thanks
AB

Unfortuately its a requirement these days. Its a bit of a rip off as it has to be renewed every two years (with childcare anyway) and agencies charge different prices.

forgot to add that I've always had to pay for my own.

Thanks yogimum, no wonder they have trouble finding people to work for them if you have to PAY your employer to work for them!

And another thing. I recently had an enhanced disclosure for doing voluntary work driving people to hospital appointments and i've applied for voluntuary work for doing gardening and this will need yet another disclosure.
So since January i have two pieces of paper saying exactly the same and now i have to pay for another one.... to say exactly the same.
What a cash cow for the government!
