I recently landed a promotion at work.....not sure when I will be starting in my new role, but I am presently 16 weeks pregnant. I initially applied in June but the application process took ages. I'd literally only just found out I was pregnant when I applied. It was the first time in three years an opening at that level had come up within my organisation and so if I didn't go for it this time, it could have taken that long again to have the chance again.
I was obviously delighted to get offered the job (not least because I know some of the others who went for it, and there were some fab candidates in the running!) There's a part of me though that is slightly terrified. My manager, and our area manager (the latter of whom was on the interview panel) both knew about the pregnancy when I applied so I've not hidden anything from anyone...and now I'm showing so I can't hide it anyway. I'm nervous in case my new colleagues in my new team get annoyed by me joining them and then going off on maternity leave in less than half a year! Also, the pressure of a new, more challenging role on top of all the pressures of being pregnant...
My employers are generally very family friendly and equal opportunities I should add. 😊
Has anyone else on here been in the same position? How did you find it?
