I applied for a job through a recruiter which seemed absolutely perfect for me, I spoke to the recruiter yesterday who was keen to put me forward and said he thinks I'd be a great match for the company.
Fast forward to today - he contacts me and says the company already have my details, either through another recruiter or directly from me and so he can't put me forward again. I definitely haven't applied for the role directly, which means another recruiter must have picked up my details from one of the many job sites I'm signed up with and put me forward without my acknowledgement! Or is there another scenario which may have happened?
I'm annoyed as I don't know who to contact to find out and it also may mean I've lost the opportunity as whoever the recruiter is hasn't spoken to me about my experience and interests etc. which I think would have put me in better stead - they've just got my standard CV 
Can anyone give me any advice on what to do next?
