Re SMP start date

Hi,

I would like to know when ideally does SMP start. My fixed term contract ends on Aug 11th and baby due on Nov 4th.

You should get written confirmation of start date. Don't think it can start before 29 weeks. It starts when your maternity leave starts

Assuming you're entitled to SMP, it starts from the date you choose, provided that date is no earlier than 29 weeks pregnant. As your employment is ending on 11 August I imagine you'd probably want to start it at 29 weeks, to minimise the amount of time you have no income.
