zero hours and working tax credit

Can anyone tell me if I am able to claim working tax credit on a zero hours contract if I work 16-36 hours a week?

I am a single parent and don't have many childcare options as my mother has health issues that make it difficult for her to walk to my child's school and back. I am looking to either get a Monday - Friday job (9am - 5pm unless directly local then can start 7.45 at earliest) or do 2/3 backshifts/12 hour shifts on a Thur/fri/sat. This would allow me to take my primary aged child to a childminder before school and my mum collect her afterward. Saturday I would just drop her off at my mums.

Any help gratefully appreciated. Smile

Hopefully I'll get a job with permanent contracted hours and avoid a zero hours contract but it seems easier said than done these days
