To whom this may concern,

I would kindly like to ask for advice on a certain case of mine. I was pregnant and my employee only paid me 2 month of maternity leave and when I returned to work I found hat my next payslip had SMP with an amount next to it, I was wondering what that may mean. I have no background information regarding my rights towards maternity leave and was wondering if someone could advice me, I would absolutely appreciate it.

Your post isn't terribly clear.

Could you elaborate on the following:

  1. How long were you actually on mat leave. Actual dates would be helpful if it doesn't out you.
  1. Did you return part way through a month?
  1. I assume you mean your 'employer' rather than 'employee'.

SMP is statutory maternity pay. It was probably on your pay slip because for part of that month you were on maternity leave and receiving it instead of your usual pay.
