SMP & 2 Jobs.

I am currently 28 weeks pregnant with baby number 1!
I work 2 jobs. One full time (40 hours a week) and one part time (anywhere between 6 - 16 hours a week)
I will get getting SMP when I go on my maternity leave from the FT job, however I'm not 100% sure (and neither is my PT employer) about whether I can claim any money from my PT job. I have read loads of conflicting information and wondered if anyone has any insight/experience of this situation before I wright off a day off to spend on hold to HMRC!

Yes you can claim smp from both if you meet the other criteria for smp like earnings and length of time employed. I worked 2 and unfortunately earned about £10 too little a week to qualify for the smp from both. Good luck!

Hi Linze it should be the employers responsibility to let you know if you are eligible. They will be able to calculate it once your qualifying week's are over

It's not for you to spend time on hold to HMRC, it's your employer's responsibility. There are only two requirements for SMP, length of service and earnings, so actually it shouldn't be difficult for your employer to work out. As you are 28 weeks pregnant your qualifying weeks are over, so assuming you have the requisite length of service, all your employer needs to do is look at what you earned during those weeks and see if it meets the minimum necessary of £113 a week. If it does, you get SMP, if not, he/she needs to fill in an SMP1 form telling you you don't get it.

Thanks Flowery, that's helpful!
I shall talk to my manager at the weekend and get him to have a look into it. When we spoke briefly about it the other day he wasn't quite sure how to put me through the system, as my hours vary so much I don't think I'll qualify for SMP on my part time job but I'll get him to have a look anyway :)
