Any passenger Assistants on school transport?

Like me? Get picked up in the morning by either taxi or minibus. Pick up x amount of children, take to school. Then the reverse PM. Collect from school, drop them off.
Like to hear your experiences. Good kids, bad kids, special needs, whatever?
Good driver, bad driver? My driver is a retired guy, ex bus driver. Cool, easy going, helps with the kids i.e. making sure belted up before driving, interacts with them, we get on fine. Heard some horror stories of the school runs. But so far so good....

Not an assistant but a parent of a child who used to be picked up ....

Bad experience - they didn't seem bothered in getting to know the kids, often blamed my DS for problems just because he was the oldest (I know he was no angel but other children also reported issues were with another child) Lack of empathy and understanding for the issues the kids had No sense of humour

You don't sound like that at all!

I love our transport person. She texts me if she isnt coming in. And gives my son sneaky oreos! Unsung heroes they are when they are happy in their jobs. The ones that are obviously doing it cos some friend/ relative got them the job arent so great,eg, coming up to the door and picking up my kid without saying hi because they are on their handsfree mobile the whole time

On the downside, its term time only. And written into the contract is that staff have to take their hols during term time. So miss out on all those cheap hols others are taking. My neighbors went on a cruise during term time, that would have cost £2.000 more during school hols.
