Nurses / bank work / maintaining registration.

Calling all Nurses ! has anyone else struggled with maintaining their registration / getting through Re- validation whilst doing very part time bank work ?
I have been doing two jobs for a while now, one which s not nursing and one which is a 15 hours Nursing job contract. I have now made the decision to just focus on my lower paid non-nursing job but will need to do couple of Nursing bank shifts ( if I can get them) a month to make enough money. I know I need to do ? 450 hours over 3 years for Re-validation. I don't think this will be a problem . I guess I'm just worried about fitting in training days etc when only doing a few hours a month. Has anyone successfully done it ? If I did let my registration lapse , how difficult is it to do a return to nursing course ? I am almost 50 and feel sad that it seems like I'm giving up on my nursing career but the stress has become intolerable .

Hi, I'm afraid I can't really help but I am going through a similar thought process. I also want to do a non nursing job and do a couple of shifts per month to keep my registration. The training you do actually does count in your nursing hours and the trust I work for make sure that all bank staff have the opportunity to do various training days all of which are paid. But I do wonder how it would all work. I found revalidation a lot quicker and easier than I anticipated. I also find the stress intolerable.

I also feel sad about it coming to this, I am so conflicted by it all but I can't see it getting better only worse. The mental stress is just too much even on part time hours. Good luck with it all, hope all goes well
