Social Media help

Hi, I have been reading through posts and came across the one on Digital Mums so I hope lots of people here have some advice on social media.
We are a very small organisation and need to market to grow, the obvious platforms seem to be social media in conjunction with the other work we do
The problem I have is, I do my best to focus on social media, go through twitter/Facebook etc, promote our own content for a week, fall behind in my other work, ignore social media, go back to it a month or so later and repeat... obviously that's not getting us anywhere!
I guess I'm trying to ask, Wheres the best place to get some guidance/mentoring on the subject? I'd like to learn the basics, but I'd also like to know honestly if I'm far better just hiring someone, and if I am - what should I be looking for?

Either would work fine but if you're doing it yourself, you do need to put the time in. It doesn't have to be too onerous though.
I freelance doing social media for clients for a very reasonable day rate 😊 but I also work with other clients to set up their accounts and give them strategies and plans on when to post and how often. Hi Brave That's really kind of you, I think having someone help with a plan would be a great start, then we can decide if we really can manage it ourselves or if we need to get someone to help us on an ongoing basis. I've no idea on budget or how much this type of support costs so I'll drop you a pm, if you could give an overview of costs and I can see what budget I can negotiate before I take free advice - I'd hate anyone to offer specific help if I couldn't pass any work their way at some point
