A little white lie spiralling

I went for a job interview for a job I never thought I'd get. It was way more money than I'd ever been on and really local and good hours. As it was dental related they asked if I'd had my hep b vaccine in my previous job and I said yes. In reality I'd only had two of the vaccines about 5 years ago. Now I've got the job they want my certificate of immunity, which I don't have! The vaccine takes 4-6 months and I don't have that long but I just don't feel I can tell them. I could possibly only need a booster as I had 2/3 previously. Please don't judge me, I just needed a break and to pay my mortgage!

You'll have to tell them you made a mistake and don't have it?

DrowningSeas · 17/07/2017 18:22

It's absolutely ridiculous to lie about something like this. Your integrity will be questioned based on such a small thing, as if you lie so easily what else could be a lie?

However

If i was you. I would say that you've lost the number so checked with your GP for the vaccine number however you must have got in a muddle and actually had the flu jab or something like that. Then hope that they don't sack you.

bellabelly · 17/07/2017 18:22

Just tell them that you made a mistake and thought you were up to date? They might be able to help you get it sorted. Why does it take 4 months?

PastysPrincess · 17/07/2017 18:23

Can't you just say you lost it but you'll pay for it to be redone?

bellabelly · 17/07/2017 18:23

Yes, for gods sake don't admit to lying!

ExtraPineappleExtraHam · 17/07/2017 18:26

You have to have one vaccine, then wait, then have another one, then wait. In my defence I didn't think I was lying, it was so long ago I didn't think about how many appointments I'd had and if I'd actually been tested at the end that I realised that I hadn't been fully vaccinated. I'm thinking of going private, but it won't speed anything up.

I've had the injection and only got two jabs and then the third was a blood test? I didn't actually have the blood test as I hate having blood taken. This was a good 9 years ago, I've recently had an email from
My occupational health to say that I need the renewal done..I'd check up.
Say you've made a mistake as thought you'd had all the jabs, turns out you missed one or two.
Ultimately it's for your safety not anyone else's.

celebrityskin · 17/07/2017 18:34

They want proof of antibodies so you could get a blood test for this now . If you have enough antibodies then great you can show this is proof. If not you can say you are a "non responder" and start another course. Some people have several full courses but still don't have a full response. Also you can delay for time by saying your GP won't provide proof as non an "essential NHS service" and you need to arrange privately. Or can say you had privately but lost letter so need to arrange new bloods etc. Lots of options and all very believable to employer.

ExtraPineappleExtraHam · 17/07/2017 18:37

Phew! Thanks guys! Xx

Well, that's even better then, if it was a genuine mistake. I bet it won't be the first time someone has got muddled. Just be totally organised from now on about your jabs. And congratulations on your new job!

AnneSansTete · 17/07/2017 18:41

You've got to tell them. I'm ten years into marriage and can't ever go on holiday to France or Canada again because I stupidly told dh on our first date that I was fluent.

lookatyourwatchnow · 17/07/2017 18:42

Annesanstete howling!!! Grin

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 17/07/2017 18:47

that is too funny annesanstete :o

could you say you had a bang to the head and all the french must have fallen out??
...that might work as an excuse for the jabs too actually!

flumpybear · 17/07/2017 18:47

Get your antibody titration done as you may have sufficient antibodies and just need a life long booster doing

lougle · 17/07/2017 18:51

You've had the vaccines, you just don't have the immunity certificate - ask for a test at the GP, pay if necessary, then produce the certificate.

SouthernNorthernGirl · 17/07/2017 18:55

Anne You need to learn in secret - otherwise you'll look bonkers when the time inevitably comes Grin

namechangedforthisreply · 17/07/2017 19:20

isthistoonosy · 17/07/2017 19:23

anna that's so funny Grin GrinGrin

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 17/07/2017 19:24

Check about the booster situation. Maybe claim you can't find your certificate of immunity? At the same time, you need to put in place a plan for booster, or whatever. I'm wondering if you can have this done at a private clinic, to get it sorted faster?
