16 hours a week minus 1 hour lunch breaks - working tax credits?

I have just been for a trial for a job that I'd really like to take as I can get two set days a week, the hours are 8-4 which is 8 hours a day but they subtract 30 mins for a lunch break so my paid hours for the week would be 15 even though I'm working 16. Will this stop me qualifying from working tax credits?

You aren't working16 hours. You are working 15. This is how most people's work hours are calculated.

For example I work two 9 hours days. I am at work from 8am - 6pm but I have an hour for lunch so I am paid for 9 hours in a 10 hour day. This makes my hours 18 hours a week.

Yes I thought it would be like that. I think I'll speak to them and see if I can work longer to make up the missing hour.

Maybe you can up the hours by finding a second job on your other five days?

I know it sounds like I'm being really lazy but the reason I wanted the 16 hours on just two days is because I really struggle for childcare, I don't have any family to help out so getting it all done in 2 days is ideal for me, but if push comes to shove I will look for something else to top up the hours.
