2 jobs and sickness.

Any help/ advice appreciated.
I work 2 jobs part time amounting to full time hours. Job A I have done for many years and it has good sick pay. It is a very physical job and involves 12 hour shifts.
Job B is a much more sedentary job involving sitting down most of the day and office work. I have only been in this job a few months and I don't think sick pay exists apart from SSP.
The problem is I have bad back pain ( probably a result of 30 years doing job A !!). Even standing for more than 10 mins is causing pain. I know I cannot do job A and am going to ring in sick, but could continue to do Job B as pain is relieved when sitting.
Is there any way of being signed off sick from Job A but continuing to do Job B or is it all or nothing. I would need a sick note after being off from Job A for a week but does that mean I can't do Job B?
Is there any solution to this?

Your GP should be doing fit notes, which say what, if any, type of work you are fit for. If he/she indicates that you are fit for sedentary seated work but are not fit for physical work there should be no problem going to work at one job but not the other.

Make sure the GP is very clear on the note though, about what you are/aren't fit for. Otherwise if you work job B and don't get better as quickly as hoped, you don't want Job A to say it's because you went to work at Job B.

Thanks Flowery that makes sense. I didn't realise Gp's could stipulate on a fit note like this so it's really helpful to know they can.
