Fixed term contracts-redundancy selection

Oh my goodness-my brain has frozen! What I meant to post was to ask is can i automatically be selected for redundancy because I am a fixed term employee whose contract has come to an end or does a selection procedure still need to apply? I am trying to decide if my boss has been rude and unpleasant or actually illegal in his actions!
