Got a couple of questions about recruitment as I'll potentially be looking at changing jobs in the future.
- Why do companies ask for your current salary? Why is it any of their business? Surely they have a budget for a salary they think is worthy of a role and previous salaries are irrelevant.
- When negotiating a salary should it be done by email so there is a written record or in person? I expect negotiations done in person are more successful but how can you ensure they stick with the agreed salary?
- If job searching whilst on maternity leave would you tell the company that you are on maternity leave and when you intend to return to work or just go with a standard my notice period is x amount of time?
