Help me calculate my weekly earnings

Looking at a part time job of 25 hours per week.

The contract says "your salary will be on the Grade x pay scale at £11,080 a year pro rata"

Is that 11080 divided by 52? Or, 11080 divided by 52 divided by fulltimehours X 25?

The second one. The salary stated is FT so you need to calculate the pro rata yourself

MargotMoon · 10/06/2017 12:19

So if it's a 35 hour week FT your salary would be £152.19pw for 25 hours

Thank you Margot

This is a tad confusing, when my daughter applied for the job it stated "Grade x £10,760-£12,240. (Based on the full time equivalent of £15,930-£18,110)"

I've rounded the exact numbers.

The above information would support the first calculation, but you're quite right that pro rata would mean the second.

Given your 2nd post it might be that the £11k figure is already pro-rata'd.
Was it advertised as a 25 hour job?
I'd ask then directly as that's the only way you are going to know for sure.
(Just a thought, would £11k for full time hours put it under the national minimum wage?)

Whitlandcarm · 10/06/2017 12:42

Yes it was advertised as a 25 hour a week job. I'm inclined to agree that it has already been pro rata'd considering that it would equate to under min wage

Unless she is under 21, the reduction for 25 hours must have already been done, as it would be under min wage.
Which would make the first calculation correct.
