Can anyone help with continuous service in local government and RMO legislation?

Hi,

I'm moving from one local government organisation to another, and whilst investigating the continuous service rules I came across the RMO (Redundancy Modification Order) and realised that my previous employer (a post-1992 university) might also come into this category, so I might be able to include my time there as continuous service.

However, I rang them and they said it wasn't stated in my contract so it doesn't apply to me - can this be correct? I thought these organisations were either covered by the legislation or they weren't.

The person I spoke to didn't know what I was talking about when I first rang and couldn't confirm to me whether the organisation was included in the RMO or not - they seemed very unsure which didn't give me confidence in what they were telling me (but doesn't mean it's wrong, obviously).

Would it only apply if I was working there prior to the changeover in 1992?

Can anyone help with this please?

Thanks.
