What does parents who both work do with their children after school and in the school holidays? For us it's a real struggle to cover the holidays sometimes. We live in the SE. What does others do ?

I'm a childminder and due to school teachers children I have vacancies during the school holidays.....however I'm in Norfolk and far to far away to help
But if you have a marathon phoning session you could call all your local childminders and see if anyone can help
(by the way I am taking a week off at the end of August - so could only do 5 weeks- other CM may be the same)

When they were small we worked in shifts, so someone was always there. For the last 5 years since I've been full time they've basically had to amuse themselves. (DH works nights so is there in body, just not spirit).

Im extremely lucky not to have to cope with cover but I know the local council and sports centres run clubs for the holidays, one near us does 9.00-5.30, perhaps something like this is an option for part of the holidays......mind you I expect they charge an arm and a leg for it. Do you have parents/family nearby whom they could stay with for a few days.....might enjoy the change. I really sympthasie with you, its so different for me as Im a stay at home Mum. I really look forward to the holidays, I know my friends that work have a very different view.
