I am currently trying to get a better work like balance and have decided to open by home to Bed & Breakfast. We have 4 rooms that we will let you and we live along a popular costal driver (albeit not on the actual coast). We live at the gateway just outside a small popular tourist town. We are 2 min drive from the town and about a 15 minute walk to the town .We live on a secondary road in a residential area. I am useless when it comes to coming up with names for our home. Can anyone help us please. We want to be seen as a modern boutique type premises.

I like B&B names that have a local association, e.g. The Chancery B&B or Heights Guest House.
Nothing whimsical or silly - that would put me off.

The Gateway?

Does the house have a name or a number already? We have a holiday property just called "Number 9" and then the name of the development. Other nearby houses are called "Lobster Pot", Ocean Breeze", "Driftwood", etc. You get the picture. I think a name that describes the area can be great. So "Hedgerows", "Sand Dunes", etc. Also a name that reflects your bedroom and house style. Is it beachy, sailing, homely or a bit swish? Is there any notable attraction nearby so you could use a name associated with that. Also using the word "House" in the name is quite classy.

I am not sure I would use the words guest house. In South Africa these are wonderful but here people still think of seedy backstreet houses with grumpy landladies. B and B is better!

Most people seem to think running a B and B is extremely hard work and not the less frenetic life they hoped for. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. Number "something" is on my List, also Gate House.

I am under no illusion that it will be hard work, but hard work is good with me if I can cut out my daily commute and manic evenings as a result.

Keep them coming!
