Getting a job without experience. HELP

I am 34 looking for a job but no work experience (medical reasons) a apart from a xmas job at clintons cards over 7 years ago and voluntary work at Barnardos over 9 years ago.

BTEC National Diploma in Business + 1 year out of 3years of a degree international Relations & politics (so, degree not completed yet)
But I need a job I need to start earning money. Any suggestions & advice please please.

I'd start by ensuring your CV maximises your qualifications and job experience so far.

Register with some agencies via Indeed.com and have telecons with them about admin roles, telephone work etc.

Supermarket work, bar work and cleaning work for some immediate casual work.

Are you eligible for any benefits atm?

My daughter is the same. She is changing her career and keeps applying for jobs but gets turned down because she has no experience. She has done volunteer work and also done courses in the new sector with no luck. She just had feedback from the latest job she had two interviews for and they said lack of experience but they were really impressed with her cv

Is there any point applying for a customer service job at the bank with very little/ almost no work experience (volunteered at Barnardos 9 years ago, xmas job at Clinton cards years ago).
Got GCSE, BTEC in Business, done 1 year out of a 3 year degree in BA International Relations & Politics.

Am I too optimistic?

is it an online application? They should provide a role spec. I'd look down the spec and see how comfortable you feel doing the must-o tasks. It sounds like you have qualifications that are relevant (or at least working towards them)

If you don't try you'll never know. You could also ask friends or family if any of their employers would give you some work experience in exchange for free labour. If you currently claim benefits I think you need their go ahead to do this so speak to your benefits office if that is the case. Alternatively ask at the job centre (even if you don't claim benefits) to see if they have any training or skills courses you can join which will give you something recent to put on your cv. They not only have these courses if they see you are very keen to get employment if a suitable job comes up they may even recommend you to the employer.

But does anyone know if a bank would employ anyone with bad credit rating & payment areas as a customer service advisor?

Lollipops, I will have to be honest (please don't think I'm being negative!), to work in financial services, the employer has to run various checks on you which includes one for credit scoring and CCJs etc. So you may be rejected if your credit rating is weak due to past issues with finances.

That said, don't give up your job search, there are always alternatives, you just need to find the right vacancy for you to get you onto the ladder so to speak.
